Frequently Asked Questions

Does the PATH Integrated Fellowship include tuition and fees?

No, the fellowship does not include tuition and fees. The fellowship is a $35,000 stipend paid over the course of nine months. Please discuss tuition/fee options directly with your department.

Can I be enrolled part time and still apply?

Yes, part-time students are allowed to apply. Changes to the application process were made May 13, 2025 that removed the requirement of applicants being full-time students.

I'm a Ph.D. student, but not in a department in the School of Arts and Humanities. Am I eligible?

Unfortunately, no. While we recognize the significant overlap with many additional departments at UC San Diego, the fellowship only supports graduate students in departments within the School of Arts and Humanities: History, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Theatre and Dance, and Visual Arts.

What is the standard length of answers for the application questions?

Please feel free to answer the questions fully, to the best of your ability. We will not be deterred by short or long answers, but rather are interested in what you have to say. To date, typical responses have varied from approximately 100 to 550 words, depending on the question. Word count does not factor into candidate review.
